Common And Kind is coming back to Union Chapel for another enormous gig!
Last year on the morning of the 24th of June, in the aftermath of the tragic loss of Jo Cox, the divisive impact of the EU referendum and divisive action and rhetoric across the world, a friend of mine called Michael Solomon-Williams published a post on social media calling upon musicians to come together in positive collaboration.
The response was phenomenal. Thousands of people reached out across the world, from countless genres and nations. To channel the offerings of so many, Michael wrote Human Kind, incorporating into it quotations from John Donne (‘No man’s an island’) and Jo Cox (‘More in common’).
The resulting single, ‘Human Kind’ was accompanied by a huge collaborative concert – and it was so popular that they’re doing it all again this year!
This year the line-up includes Turya, Snarky Puppy and a massed choir conducted by Gareth Malone.
